Specialist Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are working in partnership with an exceptional specialist education provision in the Ringwood area that is widely recognised for its therapeutic approach, strong values, and commitment to supporting children with complex needs.
The setting offers a calm, well-resourced environment where pupils are supported holistically and staff work closely as a team to provide high-quality, individualised care and education.
The Role
This is a full-time Specialist Teaching Assistant position supporting pupils aged 5–11. Working hours are 8.45am to 4.45pm.
The role is based within a primary provision and involves providing higher-level support to pupils with complex learning and emotional needs.
You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support learning, communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines. An immediate start is available.
Student Needs
Pupils may present with a combination of social, emotional and mental health needs alongside profound and multiple learning difficulties and severe learning difficulties.
Many pupils require consistent, structured support with communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and personal care.
The school places strong emphasis on understanding each child’s individual profile and providing tailored, compassionate support.
Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN needs.
Experience working with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD or SEMH, is highly desirable.
You should be calm, patient, resilient, and confident supporting pupils with high levels of need.
Due to the rural location of the school, being able to drive is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
