Specialist Support Assistant (SEMH) – Year 3

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in Bispham to recruit a Specialist Support Assistant to start in September.

This role involves supporting a Year 3 pupil group with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, where challenging behaviour is present. The school is looking for a resilient, empathetic, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small group support within a Year 3 classroom
Support pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges
Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Encourage emotional regulation, engagement, and positive learning behaviours
Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour
Be calm, patient, and confident managing behaviours positively
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Be adaptable and able to respond to changing classroom needs
Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s development
Previous school or support work experience is desirable
