Specialist School Learning Mentor – Halifax

Location: Halifax
Pay: £90 – £115 per day
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

A specialist SEMH and SEND school in Halifax is seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support pupils with additional needs, emotional regulation challenges, low confidence, and barriers to learning. This is a rewarding role ideal for someone passionate about pastoral care and inclusive education.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring for pupils with SEMH/SEND needs

  • Support emotional regulation, confidence-building and resilience

  • Deliver small-group sessions around wellbeing, motivation and behaviour

  • Help pupils overcome barriers affecting attendance, engagement or progress

  • Promote a positive, safe and nurturing environment

  • Work collaboratively with SENCO, Behaviour Leads, Pastoral Team and outside agencies

Ideal Candidate:

✅ Experience supporting young people in SEMH, SEND, youth work, mentoring or care
✅ Confident building trust and de-escalating behaviour
✅ Calm, patient and solution-focused approach
✅ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
