Special Needs Welfare Assistant for New Academic Year

Are you a Teaching Assistant looking for an exciting new role? Do you have previous experience in care or youth work and are looking to continue making a difference to people's lives? Have you previously supported students with Special Educational Needs?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Teaching Personnel may have the opportunity for you!

Teaching Personnel are preparing for the upcoming new academic year and are looking for Welfare Assistants (aka teaching assistants/ support assistants) that will be available come September in and around Sheffield.

We are looking for people who are dynamic and capable of providing support on a 1:1 or small group basis to individuals who have autism, complex learning difficulties and/or additional physical needs. You will create a trusting environment to develop indispensable skills for life beyond education. Your role will be to encourage social and personal development during and around lessons with the hope of promoting academic success. You will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure your students are getting the most out of their educational setting.

  • You will be required to provide personal care to your students so training is desired but can be provided by Teaching Personnel (Moving and Handling course)
  • Those who trained in behaviour management would be ideal (again, this is something that Teaching Personnel can support you with on our Team Teach course)
  • It is important you take responsibility for the safeguarding of students in your care, promoting their welfare and following the school's policies and assisting in personal care e.g. toileting
  • You will be needed to communicate with a wide range of educational and medical staff as well as parents/careers

We will offer you competitive daily rates ranging from ÂŁ57-ÂŁ70 per day as well as access to our CPD academy and accredited courses to enhance your personal development. You will be expertly guided through the recruitment process by your own specialist consultant.

If you are looking to get stuck into this exciting role, please send an up to date CV or alternatively click APPLY NOW. To learn more about other opportunities for the new academic year please call 0114 241 3341.
