Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant – Wigan
Support, guide, and empower pupils in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Wigan primary school that has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Rooted in strong Christian values, the school promotes respect, kindness, and a sense of belonging for every child. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of pupils who need it most.

Location: Wigan, WN4

Salary: £100 - £130

Start Date: September 2025

About The role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Support classroom activities and promote positive, inclusive learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and parents to ensure pupil progress.
  • Encourage emotional resilience, confidence and independence in all learners.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, communication needs).
  • Is nurturing, patient, and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Has knowledge of strategies to support behaviour and learning.
  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) – desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
