Teaching Personnel are currently seeking to appoint a caring and patient teaching assistant for our partner school, a primary specialist school in Greater Manchester. The position will be working a year three child on the autistic spectrum who has a range of complex needs and requirements on a daily basis. The role will involve working closely with the class teacher to create a specialised curriculum for the child and ensuring that progress is made in core subject areas and in other areas such as socio-emotional development.
The child is non-verbal with regards to communication and as such, potential candidates will preferably have experience with Makaton or BSL (any level). Additional experience taking small groups of children is preferred but not required - the child you will be working with occasionally works with small groups.
The school are seeking somebody who is creative, confident and organised and who is capable of planning effectively for the child's needs in order to guarantee their progression and development. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with other staff within the year group and phase regarding this progress and areas of concern/worry.
The ideal candidate:
- Has some Makaton or BSL experience which they can use to form a clear line of communication.
- Experience working with a child or children on the autistic spectrum.
- Adaptive to changing situations and able to respond effectively to crisis situations.
- Teach Team training (not essential)
