Job Title: SLCN Support Assistant

Location: Bedford, MK42
Job Type: Contract, Full-Time
Salary: £90 to £100 Per Day


Role Overview:

Support students with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) in a school environment. Help deliver personalized education plans and strategies, working alongside teachers and professionals to create a positive learning atmosphere. Assist students in improving their communication skills through targeted support and interventions.


Main Duties:

  • Provide Assistance to students with SLCN to support their communication development and educational progress.
  • Help implement individualized education plans tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and other specialists to maintain a supportive learning environment.
  • Carry out assessments and monitor students’ progress, offering constructive feedback.
  • Keep detailed records and manage a caseload effectively.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualification in Speech and Language Therapy or a related discipline.
  • At least 1 years’ experience supporting individuals with SLCN within an educational context.
  • Strong knowledge of different communication disorders and their effects on learning.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with educators, families, and professionals.
  • Understanding of communication difficulties and suitable intervention methods.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications or training in SLCN-specific interventions.
  • Experience working directly with children and young people with SLCN.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
  • Based in a school setting, providing support to students with communication needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
