An outstanding Specialist School in Enfield require an SEN Teaching Assistant on a long term basis to start in January. This role has arisen due to the school numbers increasing and therefore a new class being created. The school work to a sensory curriculum, with main focus being on engaging the pupil’s senses and broadening their experiences. This school has a very positive outlook on education and encourages young people to engage within their education and be actively involved wherever possible.

This school caters for young people with complex medical, communication and physical needs. The role would require the specialist Teaching Assistant to support young people within their classes, usually focusing on a sensory curriculum. In addition to this, if the Teaching Assistant has completed the relevant training, they would be required to assist with PEG feeds, Suctions and Tracheostomy procedures.

Teaching Assistant specification;

• Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs (in a work or personal capacity) or;

• Experience working with adults with complex needs

• A keen interest in working with young people with special educational needs

• Moving and Handling trained

Desirable qualifications;

• PEG feed training

• Tracheostomy training

• Suction training

• Administer medication training
