Job Title: Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Northampton (NN2 / NN3 area)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £92.63–£100 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a committed and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the NN2/NN3 area of Northampton. This full-time role involves working closely with pupils who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), providing both classroom and 1:1 support.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH
  • Help implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Support with personal care where required
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school or similar setting)
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism or SEMH needs
  • Team Teach or behaviour management training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
