Day Rate: £85 - £95 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

A warm and welcoming Luton primary school is seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team this September. Working closely with the class teacher, you’ll provide focused 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning and manage behaviour in a way that enables them to thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement individual strategies
  • Provide positive role modelling, encouragement, and consistent boundaries
  • Assist in planning and delivering tailored interventions
  • Support pupil wellbeing and promote a safe, inclusive environment
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews of pupil progress

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (grades 9–4 / A–C or Level 2 Functional Skills)
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, patient approach
  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (desirable)
  • Ability to manage behaviour calmly and confidently
  • A genuine passion for supporting the progress of all learners
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
