Job description

Teaching Personnel are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Rochdale area (OL16), who are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team for the Autumn Term of the 2025/2026 academic year.

This rewarding position will involve providing one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access the curriculum, engage in learning activities, and thrive within the classroom environment. The school is committed to providing a nurturing learning experience for all pupils, and this role plays a vital part in ensuring every child feels supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a pupil with SEND on a one-to-one basis, both inside and outside the classroom

  • Assist the class teacher in implementing learning plans and adapting activities to suit the child’s individual needs

  • Help to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment

  • Support the pupil’s social and emotional development through consistent encouragement and guidance

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents as appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a 1:1 setting

  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet a range of learning and behavioural needs

  • Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to liaise effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals

  • Show commitment to the child's well-being, progress, and personal development

  • Be enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about making a positive difference in a child’s life

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
