About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming primary school in Gateshead. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential within a mainstream classroom setting.

The Pupil:
The pupil is based within the main classroom and displays no challenging behaviour. They require additional support primarily with understanding and accessing their work, particularly around comprehension. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on a child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil with SEND
• Assist the pupil in understanding classwork and instructions
• Adapt learning materials to meet the pupil’s needs
• Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress
• Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
• Support the overall classroom environment when required

Requirements:

• Previous experience working in UK primary schools
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly KS2
• Patient, nurturing, and supportive approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
