SEND Support Assistant

Are you seeking an opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives?

We are currently seeking a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in KS1 (ages 5-7) in the Tameside area, with additional learning needs.

 

Location: Tameside SK14

Job Type: Full-time, 8.30am-3.30pm (long-term opportunity)

Salary: £13.75- £14.50 per hour

Start date: Tuesday 2nd September 2025

 

An encouraging and supportive primary school in the SK14 area are currently looking to recruit a dedicated and talented individual for the role of SEND Support Assistant. This is to provide engaging and exciting educational experiences to pupils across KS1. Working in close partnership with Parents, the dedicated staff team and Governors aim to make a difference to the lives of all their children.

What Does the Role Entail?:

  • Within this role, you will be expected to create positive relationships with pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities and encourage positive choices and behaviour.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Class Teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt learning strategies, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support with developing reading fluency through delivering 1-1 interventions and reading sessions with children of a range of abilities and needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with SEND children, in a classroom or small group setting (1:1 desirable but not essential).
  • A calm, caring, and consistent approach, with excellent communication skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to meet children’s changing needs throughout the school day.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
