Job description

SEND & SEMH Teachers | Flexible & Long-Term Opportunities | East Sussex

Ready for a new teaching environment, or interested in seeing how your mainstream experience could transfer into SEND?

I’m connecting with qualified primary and secondary teachers interested in specialist education across East Sussex throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

I work with schools around Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, supporting flexible cover and longer-term teaching assignments.

Who could this suit?

I’d be interested in hearing from:

  • Experienced SEND and SEMH teachers

  • Mainstream teachers considering specialist education

  • ECTs interested in developing within SEND

  • Teachers returning after a career break

  • Teachers looking for flexible classroom work

You’ll generally need QTS or an appropriate equivalent. Some vacancies require specific specialist or subject experience, which we’ll discuss before putting you forward.

What might the teaching involve?

Depending on the school, you could teach your subject specialism or a broader curriculum, adapting resources and delivery to pupils’ learning and communication needs.

You’ll work closely with support staff and other professionals, helping pupils make academic progress while developing the confidence, engagement and independence they need to access learning.

It takes flexibility and thoughtful planning. It also helps to find a school whose approach and expectations suit your strengths.

A conversation about your next move

Before moving into recruitment, I worked directly within SEND education myself.

We’ll discuss your teaching experience, preferred age groups, availability and what you want from your next setting. If you’re new to specialist education, we can talk through the different environments and what the work could involve.

Pay & practical information

Qualified teaching roles are paid to scale where applicable, with access to CPD and professional development.

You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.

We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.

Interested?

Apply and tell me about your teaching background and what you’re looking for next.

Let’s discuss which SEND and SEMH settings across East Sussex could suit you.
