Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you want to make a genuine impact in a child’s educational journey? Teaching Personnel is currently seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in and around Plymouth from September 2025.

We have a range of long-term and short-term placements to suit your availability, offering flexibility and valuable experience in supportive, inclusive school environments.

The Role:

As an SEN TA, you will:

  • Support pupils with a variety of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and social-emotional needs.

  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to provide tailored interventions and classroom support.

  • Assist class teachers with behaviour management and lesson preparation.

  • Foster a positive, nurturing environment that enables every child to succeed.

✅ Ideal Applicant:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (in a school, nursery, or care setting).

  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare or Education Degree) is desirable but not essential.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
