Job description
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you want to make a genuine impact in a child’s educational journey? Teaching Personnel is currently seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in and around Plymouth from September 2025.
We have a range of long-term and short-term placements to suit your availability, offering flexibility and valuable experience in supportive, inclusive school environments.
The Role:
As an SEN TA, you will:

Support pupils with a variety of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and social-emotional needs.

Work one-to-one or in small groups to provide tailored interventions and classroom support.

Assist class teachers with behaviour management and lesson preparation.

Foster a positive, nurturing environment that enables every child to succeed.
✅ Ideal Applicant:
-
Previous experience working with children with SEN (in a school, nursery, or care setting).
-
A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
-
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare or Education Degree) is desirable but not essential.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
