SEN Teaching Assistants (ALN Support)

Locations: Schools & Specialist ALN Provisions Across Carmarthenshire
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term Time Only (No Weekends!)
Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour

We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) across a range of primary schools, secondary schools, specialist resource bases and dedicated ALN provisions throughout Carmarthenshire.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll support learners with a variety of additional needs, helping them engage with learning, develop independence and build essential social and emotional skills.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of educational settings, gaining valuable experience while supporting pupils in safe, inclusive and nurturing environments.

 

About the Pupils You'll Support

You may support pupils across primary, secondary and specialist educational settings with needs including:

✅ Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

✅ Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

✅ ADHD

✅ Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)

✅ Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs

✅ Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties

✅ Physical Disabilities

✅ Sensory Impairments

✅ Complex Needs

Every pupil is unique, and schools work closely with families and professionals to provide personalised support that helps learners reach their full potential.


Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils throughout the school day and helping them engage successfully with learning.

A Typical Day May Include:

Supporting pupils in class during lessons and learning activities

Delivering 1:1 support and small-group interventions

Assisting teachers with differentiated learning activities

Encouraging emotional wellbeing and positive self-esteem

️ Supporting communication, language and social development

Promoting independence and life skills

Supporting creative, practical and outdoor learning activities

Assisting with breaktimes, lunchtimes and transitions throughout the day

Working closely with teachers, ALNCOs, parents and external professionals

Monitoring progress and recording observations

Helping create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment


What We're Looking For

✔️ Essential Requirements

Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one)

EWC Registration (or willingness to obtain)

Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Ability to build positive professional relationships with pupils and staff

Reliable, committed and able to work effectively within a school environment

Access to transport is desirable due to the variety of school locations across Carmarthenshire
