SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Stockport, SK4
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Short‑term / Long‑term, Temporary
Pay Rate:
£90 – £100 per day

We are proudly partnering with a warm, inclusive primary school in the SK4 area of Stockport who are seeking a dedicated Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing the whole child—helping pupils grow in confidence, build emotional resilience, and reach their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role within the school’s support team, working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver structured, personalised interventions. You will support children with a range of SEND and SEMH needs, helping them progress both academically and emotionally in a safe, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the class teacher with daily lessons and classroom routines
• Providing targeted 1:1 or small‑group support to strengthen learning
• Implementing personalised learning and behaviour support plans
• Assisting with classroom resource preparation and activity setup
• Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and independence
• Contributing to observations, assessments, and pupil progress tracking
• Supervising pupils during playtimes, activities, and school trips
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
• Following all safeguarding and child protection policies

Key Requirements:

• Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills, with GCSE English & Maths (grade C/4 or above)
• Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant
• Knowledge of SEND, SEMH strategies, and behaviour support
• Patience, empathy, and a positive, child‑centred approach
• Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
