Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth & surrounding areas
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract Type: Flexible

Teaching Personnel is recruiting compassionate, resilient, and committed Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs) to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across schools and specialist provisions in Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

We welcome applications from experienced support staff, care workers, graduates, or those with a passion for working with children and young people.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN or SEMH needs

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Assist teachers and other staff in delivering tailored learning plans

  • Support students with autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, or behavioural challenges

  • Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and outside agencies

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people (formal or informal)

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

  • Strong behaviour management or willingness to learn strategies

  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one

  • A genuine passion for supporting those with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
