Teaching assistant - SEN – Full-time – PMLD focus
Competitive daily rate £85 - £105 PAYE
Teaching personnel are currently looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant to work in a purpose-built special needs school located in Peckham. This is a lively, warm school which is part of a multi site academy of special needs schools, they offer ongoing development and support for their staff. This will be working in a challenging yet rewarding role in a class where pupils have multiple and physical learning disabilities. This is a specialised role working within a KS3 class with pupils who have profound multiple learning difficulties and complex physical needs and require a confident teaching assistant to provide a nurturing environment and multi sensory support to develop pupils’ responsiveness and learning. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with either PMLD pupils in a SEN school / school-based setting or have worked in care sector with physical disabilities, have manual handling experience and are able to support with personal care / toileting needs.
The school are looking for a patient nurturing teaching assistant to provide consistency for pupils so for the successful individual there is the opportunity for a permanent contract dependant upon performance.
KS3 PMLD Teaching assistant:
- Previous experience with profound or severe learning difficulties
- Must have manual handling experience or training or willing to complete training
- Able to deliver group or 1:1 support for pupils with complex learning and physical disabilities
- Must be able to support with nappy changing / toileting needs
- Full time role ; Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30 pm – term time only
- Be able to commit to travelling to Peckham daily
