Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN School)

Location: Macclesfield
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: 3 Months (Temporary)


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Macclesfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs. The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of learning difficulties, ensuring they have access to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive social interactions.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and report to teaching staff.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages independence and confidence.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
