Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN School)

Location: Runcorn, Cheshire
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary
Start Date: December
End Date: Before February Half Term


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Runcorn. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils where required.
  • Help with personal care and emotional regulation for pupils who need additional support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff and parents.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with children with additional needs (desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development

Hours & Pay

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday during school hours.
  • £90-£110/day depending on experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
