SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 2 TA)

Date posted : 01/05/19
£57 - £63 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

We are looking for people who have either personal or professional experience caring for children or young adults with Special educational needs, who want to work during term time in schools as a TA.

This role is perfect for those who are looking for more experience before pursuing a PGCE, or for if you are in need of a role which can suit your diary.
The children within SEN schools have a range of needs such as Autism, PMLD, SLD, Aspergers, Downs Syndrome and physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, amongst other multiple and complex needs. Knowledge of handling and supporting these conditions is essential however further training courses can be provided such as autism awareness and Team-Teach.

As a TA you will mainly support the children in class whilst the teacher delivers the curriculum, ensuring their behaviour is managed, needs are met and that they are interacting and engaging appropriately. Other responsibilities will include lunch time and break time supervision and possible intervention sessions if necessary.
Due to the nature of some of the needs, some students may require personal care and moving and handling which you must be comfortable with if you wish to apply.

Safeguarding policies are an absolutely essential part of working in a school and all staff must understand how to manage any safeguarding issues which may arise and how to report them. Teaching Personnel are able to provide a free online training course to candidates who are cleared for work. All candidates need an enhanced child only DBS which is on the update service to work with Teaching Personnel and all overseas candidates who have lived outside the UK for more than 6 months in the last 6 years must provide an overseas criminal record check.

To apply, please upload your CV and cover letter detailing your situation, and a consultant will get back to you!
