SEN Teaching Assistant - L32, Liverpool
Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | Immediate Start Available
£14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the L32 area of Liverpool. This is a long-term role supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, with the potential to continue for the full academic year.
This opportunity would suit an individual who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. Whilst previous school-based experience is not essential, experience supporting children or young adults with SEND and SEMH needs is a key requirement.

The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Build strong, positive relationships to support pupils' emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies.
- Support children both within the classroom and during less structured parts of the school day.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing.
- Previous education experience is desirable but not essential.
Candidates from backgrounds such as care work, youth work, residential support, sports coaching, mental health support, and social care are strongly encouraged to apply.
