We are currently looking for a SEN Teaching Assitant who is comfortable supporting SEN pupils with a whole range of needs. The job role will be based in a school in coalville working with a child with SEMH. The child can be challenging at times, so this post would requre patience.
Responsibilties
- Supporting schoolwork under the supervision of the teacher.
- Preparing learning resources.
- Encouraging children's confidence, self esteem and independence.
- Helping children understand instructions, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating.
- Putting into practice individual education, social, behavioural and personal care programmes.
- Encouraging children to communicate with one another and with staff.
- Providing feedback and assistance to teachers.
- Supporting children in social activities and on outings.
- Assisting children during therapy sessions.
- Recognising signs of distress in children and offering reassurance.
- Attending to pupils' physical needs.
- Completing records.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience with SEN pupils
- Team teach trained desirable but not essential
- Have previous experience working with children
- Have a DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
- A GCSE in English and Maths
- Calm and patient approach when working with children
- Have proven ability to work as a team
- maintain, form and develop strong professional relationships within our learning community
- Show a high level of commitment to, and enthusiasm for, the role
- Have energy, flexibility and drive
- Have high expectations for themselves and their pupils
