Job description

Part time work available across South East London.

Are you looking for part time work, or are you looking to get back into work after a break?

Would you like work as an SEN Teaching Assistant on a flexible day to day basis?

I am looking for a proactive and enthusiastic teaching assistant to work on an ad hoc basis at three different SEN schools in South East London, covering the Lewisham, Southwark and Bromley London Boroughs. You will be covering for absent members of staff as and when necessary for each school – this could be covering sickness, training courses, trips, medical appointments or other planned absences.

Some work available will be full days (08:30am-15:30pm) and some work available will be part time over the lunch period (11:30am-13:30pm)

  • You must have experience of working with children, preferably those with special needs including autism, as this is a prevalent need in each of the schools
  • You must have a positive personality and the kind of attitude to get stuck in straight away and engage with the children
  • You will be the kind of person who relishes a challenge and really wants to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children
  • You will be resilient and enjoy the opportunity to move between different schools and classes, getting to know all the children and staff
  • You will fill the gap when members of staff are absent, which is a vital role within a school
  • You will be welcomed and supported by the staff in each class as well as the SLT

This kind of work often leads to a regular position within one school – either part time or full time dependent on what you are looking for. Many agency staff transfer onto permanent contracts with the school within 12 months of starting through the agency.

If you like the sound of this kind of opportunity I would very much like to hear from you. Please send your CV to be considered for registration with Teaching Personnel.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
