SEN Teaching Assistant

A school based near to Bideford is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the support staff on a temporary basis starting in September. The role will focus on helping those with SEN in a variety of different ways. We encourage applications from:

- Those with prior experience working with children with SEN.

- Those who are wanting to pursue a career within the education sector.

- Those who are looking for invaluable school experience before teacher training or an alternative course.

Knowledge of the following is essential:

  • Autism
  • Behavioural issues
  • Multi-sensory impairment

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Working 1:1 with a child with additional needs -encouraging and maintaining attainment.
  • Developing and preparing learning techniques and worksheets that help development both educationally and socially.
  • Offering support and guidance to those with SEN within the classroom, as well as across the school site.
  • Managing behaviour expectations, understanding how these may differ for a child with SEN in comparison to those who do not have SEN.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
