SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Worthing, West Sussex
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

We are currently seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Worthing. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young children.

The Role

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assisting children in accessing classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social, emotional, and learning needs.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support plans.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning and development.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or other additional learning needs.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care Worker, Nursery Practitioner, or Youth Worker.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support.
