Temporary SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs
Location: St Austell, Cornwall
Start Date: Immediate – Two weeks before October half term
⏳ Duration: Temporary (2 weeks initially, with potential extension until Christmas)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Pay: Competitive, depending on experience

A specialist SEN provision in St Austell is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis. You’ll be supporting children and young people with a range of complex needs, including autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, and behavioural challenges.
This role begins immediately and will run for two weeks up to the October half term, with the possibility of extension until Christmas for the right candidate.
Your Role Will Involve:

Providing 1:1 and small group support
-
Supporting pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development
-
Assisting with personal care and therapeutic activities as needed

Helping implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets

Working closely with teachers and support staff to maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or complex needs
-
Calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
-
Confident using positive behaviour management strategies
-
Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
-
Team Teach or similar behaviour training
-
Previous experience in a specialist or alternative provision
-
Relevant qualifications in SEN or education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
