Job Summary

We are looking for caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Southampton. This is a term-time only role, perfect for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

You’ll be working in specialist SEN schools that support children with a variety of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN

• Assist with classroom learning activities and adapt resources as needed

• Support pupils with personal care (where applicable)

• Help manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies

• Encourage students' confidence, independence, and communication

• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver individual learning plans

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people (education or care setting preferred)

• A calm, patient and nurturing approach

• A genuine interest in working with children with additional needs

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• SEN training or qualifications are a bonus, but not required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
