Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in KS1 – Down Syndrome & Complex Needs
Location: Bitterne
Full-time | Immediate Start | Long-term Opportunity

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with diverse needs?
Teaching Personnel is currently working with a welcoming and inclusive school, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. This role is to begin ASAP and offers a long-term opportunity to make a lasting difference.

The successful candidate will have experience working with children with Down syndrome, as well as supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and sensory needs.

Your role will include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support

  • Assisting with communication and learning tools

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement EHCP targets

  • Supporting the development of independence and social skills

  • Helping to create a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels valued

We're looking for someone who:
Has previous experience in a similar SEN role (essential)
Is patient, compassionate, and proactive
Understands how to support pupils with communication and developmental needs
Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Holds a relevant TA qualification or has equivalent experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
