Teaching Assistants (TA) – Full Time & Part Time Roles

Primary Schools in Southampton

Start Date: September 2026

Primary schools across Southampton are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and resilient Teaching Assistants (TA) to join their teams on both a full-time and part-time basis from September 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality 1:1 and 1:2 support for pupils with a range of learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated, and accessible lessons.
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with additional behavioural and physical support requirements.
  • Support pupils who may display physical behaviours that challenge, ensuring their safety and the safety of others.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs (preferred).
  • Team Teach training is highly desirable, although training opportunities may be available for suitable candidates.
  • Proven experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 and/or 1:2 basis.
  • Experience working with pupils who display physical behaviours that challenge.
  • A patient, calm, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting learning, wellbeing, and personal development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
