Teaching Personnel is the UK's leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school's in Salisbury. The school works with children aged 4-16 years with autism (ASC), profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), SLD severe learning difficulties (SLD) and mild learning difficulties (MLD). They have had a multi-million pound refurbishment with excellent on-site facilities. This position is ideal for qualified teachers, NQT's or someone looking to gain experience working in a school with Special Educational Needs.

What the role involves:

  • working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
  • working alongside a team of support staff in class
  • working on a 1-1 basis with students

This is a full time role, starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:

  • have experience working within a school setting
  • have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties
  • be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
  • Have experience in ASC

The successful candidate must:

  • Have experience supporting young people in a school setting that have SEN
  • Be confident
  • Get stuck in
  • Have a laugh!
