We are recruiting a caring, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist secondary school in the Redhill area, starting as soon as possible.

The school supports students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC/ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated learning difficulties.

The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support in and outside the classroom.
• Supporting students with communication, learning, emotional regulation and sensory needs.
• Promoting positive behaviour through consistent, supportive approaches and de-escalation strategies.
• Encouraging independence, self-esteem, social development and positive relationships.
• Building trusting relationships with students using patience, empathy and consistency.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
• Adapting learning activities and support strategies to suit different abilities and needs.
• Supporting students with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times.

‍ What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Experience or an interest in supporting students with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs or learning difficulties.
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
• Confidence supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and challenging situations.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life.
• A genuine commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every student reach their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
