SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: Fulwood, Preston
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 3:25pm
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Duration: Long-Term Opportunity (with potential for permanent contract)

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school in Fulwood, Preston on a full-time basis.

This role involves supporting two pupils across Year 4 and Year 5, both of whom have additional needs and can at times present challenging behaviours. The position will be shared with another experienced TA already in school, with responsibilities split morning and afternoon, alternating between the two pupils.

This is a rewarding opportunity to build strong relationships, make a genuine difference, and work as part of a supportive and experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 SEN support to two pupils across KS2 (Year 4 and Year 5)
  • Manage and support challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
  • Work closely with the class teachers and SENCO to implement support strategies
  • Alternate support duties with another TA on a morning/afternoon rota
  • Encourage pupil engagement, progress, and emotional development
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • Essential: Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Confident handling challenging behaviours with a patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm, consistent, and adaptable
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
