Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Blackburn that supports pupils aged 8-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment for young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

The school prides itself on creating a supportive atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and independence. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support that enables pupils to re-engage with education and realise their potential.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, trauma-related behaviours and additional learning needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Contributing to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, resilient and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

This role would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, youth workers, support workers, care professionals or individuals with a background supporting children and young people with additional needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
