SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blackburn

Start Date: September 2026
Trial Day: 22nd June 2026
Location: Blackburn
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Blackburn from September.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their individual goals. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide both classroom and behavioural support.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, SEND or similar backgrounds.
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Be proactive, adaptable and resilient.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

Essential Requirements:

  • A valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or an Enhanced DBS issued recently and available to be checked.
  • Ability to attend a trial day on 22nd June 2026.
  • Availability to start full-time in September 2026.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
