SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: Fulwood, Preston
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term (initially until December 2026, with potential extension)
Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Fulwood, Preston. This is a full-time position supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, working on a 1:1 basis with multiple pupils who have varying levels of Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in children’s lives and has experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with a range of SEN needs across KS1 and KS2
  • Support learning, engagement, and emotional wellbeing in and out of the classroom
  • Assist with differentiation and implementation of tailored learning strategies
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and school staff to support pupil progress
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
  • Relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
