SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

We are seeking empathetic and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils on a 1:1 basis in primary schools throughout Plymouth. Many of the pupils you’ll work with have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH, requiring tailored support and consistency.

Role Expectations:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with Special Educational Needs (in-class or outside of class)

  • Support behaviour regulation, sensory needs, and communication strategies

  • Liaise with SENCOs, class teachers, and external professionals

  • Contribute to EHCP support planning and pupil progress monitoring

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils (in schools or alternative settings)

  • Calm, nurturing, and resilient personality

  • Ability to form trusting relationships with children who may be anxious or dysregulated

  • Team Teach or similar behaviour support training desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
