SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism, SEMH & ADHD Support
Supply Bank Opportunities (Short-Term & Long-Term)
Norwich, Norfolk

Flexible work. Meaningful impact. On your terms.

Some children need more than academic support. They need patience, understanding, and someone who genuinely believes in them.

We are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to join our Supply Bank, supporting schools across Norwich and the surrounding areas. With a mix of short-term and long-term opportunities available, this role offers the flexibility to work around your schedule while making a real difference in the classroom.

If you bring calm, consistency, and genuine empathy, this could be a strong next step in your education career.

The Opportunity
As a Supply SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, and ADHD across a variety of school settings. Each day may look different, but your impact remains the same—helping children feel safe, supported, and able to engage in learning.

This role offers you the opportunity to:
Work flexibly across different schools and settings
Choose short-term or long-term placements to suit your availability
Build valuable SEND experience across primary and secondary education
Develop your skills in behaviour support and emotional regulation
Make a genuine difference in pupils’ daily school experience

Your Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, and ADHD in structured classroom environments
Help children manage transitions, routines, and daily school expectations
Use clear communication, patience, and encouragement to support engagement
Recognise emotional triggers and support pupils in regulating their feelings
Promote positive behaviour through structure, reassurance, and consistency
Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND teams to maintain a calm, supportive environment

What We’re Looking For
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
The ability to build trust and create a safe, consistent presence
An understanding that every child’s progress looks different

Why Join Our Supply Bank?
We focus on flexibility, support, and helping you build meaningful experience in education.

When you join, you’ll benefit from:
Flexible working to fit around your schedule
Opportunities across a range of supportive school settings
Competitive weekly pay
Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
Access to training and development opportunities
Clear pathways into long-term or permanent roles

Why This Role Matters
For pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, or ADHD, school can sometimes feel overwhelming. The right support can transform their experience—helping them feel safe, build confidence, and stay engaged.

In this role, you’re not just supporting learning. You’re shaping how a child feels about school and what they believe they can achieve.

A Quick Note
If you’re Thrive trained, that’s a great advantage. If not, we can support you with access to free training to help you build your skills and confidence within SEND settings.
