A highly reputable and rapidly growing specialist school group is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the team at their brand-new school opening in Leicester in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking educational setting that is committed to transforming the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a permanent role offering a negotiable salary dependent on experience.

About the School:

The new provision in Leicester is the latest addition to a well-established group of specialist schools recognised for their child-centred ethos, therapeutic approach, and commitment to excellence in SEN and SEMH education. The school will cater for a small number of pupils in a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of teaching staff to support pupils’ learning and well-being.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support tailored to pupils’ specific needs.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with daily routines and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support holistic development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and model appropriate emotional regulation strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (in school or alternative settings) is highly desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Health & Social Care) is beneficial but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
