Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:

Yorkshire and the Humber, West Yorkshire, Leeds, LS6

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for SEN children
  • Help create an inclusive learning environment for all pupils
  • Support children with their academic and social development
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Good understanding of SEN strategies and interventions

Education:

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent

Experience:

Previous experience working with SEN children

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Patience and empathy when working with SEN pupils
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
  • Training in specific areas of SEN such as autism or dyslexia

Working Conditions:

This role will involve working within a school setting, collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support the needs of SEN pupils. The position may require some flexibility in working hours to accommodate school schedules and events.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
