Are you looking for rewarding work within a school environment? Could you make a positive difference to the lives of young people? Do you have professional or personal experience of supporting young people or adults with special needs, challenging behaviour or emotional social and mental health issues?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic, growing school in Exeter; all of the students have social, emotional or behavioural needs, and some have autism.

We are looking to recruit Special Educational Needs (SEN) mentors and support workers who are passionate about making education achievable and accessible for pupils with additional needs and challenging behaviours.

We want to hear from you if you have had experience supporting:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties or;
  • Learning Difficulties

The setting offers a nurturing, safe and non-judgemental space for children who display challenging behaviour. These pupils might be LAC (Looked After Children) or from a disadvantaged background so we need someone who is empathetic, committed and passionate about having a positive affect and contribution to their education and lives.

The school is based in Exeter and is a specialist provision for students that have been excluded from mainstream education. It offers support in academic and vocational subjects, identifying the strengths of the individual students and working with them to help them to become independent and confident learners.

This role would particularly suit:

  • People who are wanting to gain more experience in teaching/mental health

If you want to make a difference to the lives of children with SEN or if you are wanting to expand your experience across a wider age and ability range then this role is for you.

The successful candidates must be suitably qualified with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications, you must also hold a driving licence.
