Job description

Are you someone who believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face?

Teaching Personnel is working with a range of welcoming and supportive specialist SEN schools across West Sussex, and we're looking for compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams.

This is an opportunity to do something genuinely meaningful. You'll be supporting children and young people with additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop independence and build confidence in their everyday lives.

No two days will look the same, and that's part of what makes this role so rewarding.

The role:

  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

  • Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging, accessible and individualised learning activities.

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.

  • Helping pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation and independence.

  • Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.

  • Celebrating individual progress, achievements and milestones.

What we're looking for:

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient individual.

  • Someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable, but not essential.

  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Why join Teaching Personnel?

  • Access to opportunities in specialist SEN schools across West Sussex.

  • Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience and role.

  • Flexible working opportunities.

  • Access to relevant training and professional development.

  • A dedicated recruitment consultant to support you throughout your journey.

  • Opportunities to progress within education.

You don't necessarily need years of classroom experience. Sometimes the most important qualities are patience, kindness and the determination to help someone achieve something they once thought impossible.

Apply today and take your first step towards a rewarding career in SEN education with Teaching Personnel.
