SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: BL9
Start Date: After October Half Term 2026
Hours: Full Time
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the BL9 area. This full-time role will begin after the October half-term break and is expected to continue for the remainder of the academic year.

About the Role

You will be working closely with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals. The role involves a combination of 1:1 support and small-group intervention work, ensuring pupils receive the guidance and encouragement they need throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
  • Delivering and supporting targeted intervention sessions
  • Implementing strategies to support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Using visual aids, structured routines, and differentiated resources to support learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils remain engaged in lessons
  • Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Supporting progress monitoring and contributing to pupil reviews where required

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have previous SEN experience within an educational setting (essential)
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
  • Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
  • Be reliable, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact on pupil outcomes

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
