Teaching Personnel is the UK's leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school's in Bournemouth. The school is a specialist SEN school working with children in Early Years, Primary and Secondary education specialising in Autism and Aspergers. The class sizes are around 6-8 children and teaching assistants will also be required to carry out 1:1's.

What the role involves:

  • working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
  • working alongside a team of support staff in class
  • working on a 1:1 basis with students

This is a full time role (working 5 days a week), starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:

  • have experience working within a school setting
  • be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
  • be nurturing and enthusiastic

The successful candidate MUST:

  • have experience working with people that have Autism or challenging behaviour
  • be able to work 5 days a week
