SEMH Support Assistant.

  • Experience working with SEN pupils is a must.
  • A good knowledge of de-escalation tactics is a must.
  • Work from June until Christmas.

A lovely Primary School in Blackburn have approached Teaching Personnel to appoint a specialist member of support staff to work on a 1:1 basis with a child their reception class. The child is part of the new school’s cohort and requires academic and social support.

The child will be expected to have an education plan for social, emotional, and mental health needs and so the school are keen to employ a member of staff with previous knowledge of how to complete regular updates. The hours of this position are 8:45 to 15:15.

The school has a positive Ofsted grading and has been oversubscribed for a number of years. Behaviour at this school is exemplary and the Head Teacher is keen to recruit staff who understand the importance of maintaining high standards. Additionally, many of the staff have been there for numerous years due to the inclusive and warm atmosphere of the school.

The SENCO will provide support for the success member of staff and give additional training and professional development needed to provide good support for the child. In the meantime, the SENCO has asked for a range of CVs, she is considering candidates with care and support worker backgrounds, nursery experience and of course school-based experience.

The expected pay rate for the role will be between £11.85 - £12.50 per hour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
