SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary & Secondary Schools | Barnsley | Immediate Start

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are currently recruiting for caring, resilient, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary and secondary schools in Barnsley.


Location: Barnsley

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: Immediate

⏰ Contract: Full-time or part-time | Long-term and short-term options


Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN (including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language needs)
  • Supporting the class teacher in managing behaviour and learning
  • Helping to implement EHCP targets and personalised support plans
  • Encouraging independence and social interaction
  • Liaising with SENCOs, teachers, and parents

✅ Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
