Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

SEND Teaching Assistant

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students aged 11-16 years old with primary diagnoses such as:

  • High functioning Autism
  • Mental health difficulties (SEMH)
  • Complex needs
  • Has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Campus Features:

  • Purpose-built classrooms and therapy spaces
  • Independent living facilities to develop life skills
  • Outdoor areas for recreation and sensory activities

Curriculum:

  • Individualised learning programmes focusing on functional skills, vocational training, and independence
  • Emphasis on communication, social skills, and preparation for adulthood

Therapeutic Support:

  • Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioural support integrated into daily routines

 

Who We Are Looking For

  • SEN / Autism based experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Mental health experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Understanding of challenging behaviours
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
