SEN Teaching Assistant | Cardiff

The Executive Head of our client is a large special and additional learning needs school based in the centre of Cardiff are currently looking for a number of Teaching Assistants to start with them as soon as possible. They have a state-of-the-art building and cater for students with a variety of special needs. In particular, they support autistic students and also pupils with PMLD.

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a special school in Cardiff. You must have experience of supporting pupils with Autism and/or Asperger's Syndrome and personal care. There is an immediate start for the right candidate and is 5 full days per week until July 2019.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience of supporting Special Educational Needs within a professional or personal capacity.
  • Having a background in Psychology, Sports or Education Graduates would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Available full time, Monday-Friday & 8:30-3:30.
  • Have specific training such as Manual Handling, Team Teach or ASD Awareness.


This role will involve working in the primary department of the school with students who have Autism or Aspergers. As such, the ability to encourage and support these pupils while maintaining an awareness of their individual triggers and difficulties will be essential. Some of these pupils can exhibit challenging behaviours, so some experience with de-escalation strategies and possibly a valid Team Teach and Manual Handling certificate would also be useful.
