Job description
Teaching Personnel is working with a fantastic secondary SEN school In Wigan that supports students aged 11–16 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities. The school is looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their team and help students reach their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally.
This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys thinking creatively, building strong relationships, and working as part of a dedicated team to support young people who need a different approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons to small groups or on a 1:1 basis, tailored to students' EHCPs
- Use engaging, practical approaches to bring learning to life and meet diverse needs
- Support students in developing key life skills, communication, and emotional regulation
- Work closely with support staff, therapists, and external agencies as part of a holistic approach
- Track student progress and contribute to reviews, reports, and planning meetings
- Help manage challenging behaviours with a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach
Ideal Candidate:
- QTS or QTLS – essential
- Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEN (either in schools or similar settings)
- Strong understanding of SEND strategies, behaviour support, and differentiated teaching
- Positive, resilient, and nurturing attitude
- Confident managing behaviour and building rapport with pupils with complex needs

Successful applicants will be subject to standard vetting checks, including two school / education-based references & a DBS.
Applicants must be able to provide an Overseas Police Check if applicant has been outside the UK for more than 6 months in the past 5 years.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
